TXST Expand AI

TXST Expand AI is a NSF funded initiative to support Expanding AI Innovation through Capacity Building and Partnerships (ExpandAI). This project focuses on establishing and growing AI related activities at Texas State University. This project aims to significantly expand access to AI education, infrastructure, and research opportunities through widespread integration of AI technology into non-AI disciplines such as criminal justice, psychology, firefighting and agriculture. By leveraging the collective expertise and resources of the team, the project will promote interdisciplinary research and education to grow a diverse pool of AI practitioners that will drive sustainable expansion of AI technology across the Texas State University San Marcos campus and in the nearby community. Led by a diverse team of researchers from various academic departments, the project will catalyze institutional change at Texas State University San Marcos by providing comprehensive training to underrepresented individuals, empowering them to pursue AI-related careers thereby enriching the field with diverse perspectives.

Looking Forward

TXST CADS aims to strengthen is position in interdisciplinary AI research and education. By fostering collaborations across scientific, societal, and business domains, the center addresses global challenges while preparing a diverse AI workforce. Future collaborations with community and industry partners will include areas such as AI security—ensuring the protection of critical data systems—resilience, bio-life sciences innovations, and sustainability, reflecting CADS’s commitment to driving innovation that benefits society. With its vision to lead in AI-driven solutions, TXST CADS is uniquely positioned to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges through groundbreaking interdisciplinary collaboration and research while supporting workforce development in Texas and beyond.
