Year in Review

In only two years, CADS has evolved from a startup center to a strategic institutional driver of AI-enabled research and education. Its interdisciplinary research, faculty development, student engagement activities have strengthened TXST’s external funding base, enhanced its visibility in the AI and data science community, and advanced the university’s path toward R1 competitiveness and regional innovation leadership.

CADS programs have directly supported collaborations across 17 departments spanning five colleges — integrating research, education, and workforce pipelines under one institutional platform. By expanding externally funded data and AI research, faculty training, and industry collaboration, CADS directly supports Texas State’s strategic goals.

The Center expanded interdisciplinary research collaborations, strengthened faculty and student training opportunities, launched new engagement initiatives, and built partnerships with industry, government, and academic organizations. Through research development, workforce preparation, and community engagement, CADS advanced its mission of fostering innovation and supporting Texas State’s growing leadership in data and AI.

The Center also continued to host annual events and trainings, including an HPC and AI Summer school and the development of AI literacy modules. More information on workshops and self-paced learning materials can be found on our website's Education page.
